Senior Engineering Manager.

Iconic Australian institution that champions social good, looking for a technical leader who can guide their software engineering practice through an organisational technology transformation. This is a role that'll play a key part in shaping engineering culture, engineering ways of working and overall technology direction over the next 2-5 years.

This role will suit someone who's successfully led multiple engineering teams, owned the assessment and ongoing management of external vendors, and championed the acceptance and adoption of modern software engineering practices.

What you'll be doing

• Leading the introduction and ongoing promotion of modern software engineering best practices, standards and a culture of innovation
• Mentoring team leads and engineers of all experience levels while also helping to build and maintain a consistent talent pipeline for future growth.
• Fostering collaboration, setting  goals for code quality and security, and manage technical debt.
• Managing capital and operational budget for the engineering department, balancing commercial requirements from the broader organisation.
• Building, assessing and maintaining relationships with external vendor partners.

What you'll ideally bring

• Experience leading multiple software engineering teams and development streams.
• Familiarity of managing the transition process from legacy technology platforms while still maintaining support.
• Some exposure to or understanding of event driven architecture.
• Experience engaging with and assessing external vendor partners.
• Background in working within complex corporate environments and building relationships with technical and non-technical leaders.
