Great opportunity for a skilled Platform Engineer to support a Queensland Government digital environment, working across a modern microservices and event-driven platform hosted in the cloud. This role focuses on lifecycle patching, automation, reliability and enabling fast, scalable digital delivery.<br> <br> <strong><em>This is an initial contract to 30 June 2026 + view of 2 x 12month extension options.</em></strong><br> <br> <strong>Responsibilities: </strong><br> <ul> <li>Build and maintain deep technical knowledge of platform systems, services and their business usage.</li> <li>Develop high-quality, DevOps-friendly platform components with scalability, fault tolerance and security baked in.</li> <li>Drive automation initiatives to improve efficiency across the platform.</li> <li>Manage and resolve a range of support issues, prioritising workloads and meeting expected timeframes.</li> <li>Contribute to technical standards, documentation and knowledge assets.</li> <li>Champion cloud best practices and provide hands-on support to uplift capability across the team.</li> <li>Collaborate with QA specialists to ensure appropriate unit, integration and functional testing.</li> <li>Identify, document and manage risks, issues and complex changes in line with ITIL processes.</li> <li>Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support governance and security standards.</li> <li>Create and maintain reference materials such as network diagrams, work instructions and training resources.</li> <li>Support lifecycle patching activities across tools such as EKS, Trivy, Fluent Bit, kube-bench, Metric Server and NGINX Ingress.</li> </ul> <strong>Ideally you will have the following:</strong><br> <ul> <li>Hands-on experience with at least one of: Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka or AWS.</li> <li>Strong understanding of lifecycle patching for microservices platforms.</li> <li>Solid knowledge of cloud security best practices.</li> <li>High-quality documentation and communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team.</li> <li>AWS Associate or Professional certifications highly regarded.</li> <li>Experience across both public and private sector environments is desirable.</li> </ul> <br> This role will be offered as an initial 12 month contract with long term extension options.<br> <br> To apply please send your resume or contact Nat at BLACKROC on 0430 292 875 or natalie@blackroc.co
