Data Engineering Manager.

BLACKROC is excited to be working alongside a true global leader in their space. Based out of Brisbane, this is a unique opportunity to join their dynamic team as a Data Engineering Manager and lead their globally distributed data engineering team. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you'll drive the development and maintenance of their data analytic applications, ensuring successful project delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a geographically distributed team of data engineers, fostering collaboration and achieving collective goals.
• Oversee the development, maintenance, and optimisation of data pipelines, analytics models, ETL processes, and real-time data processing systems.
• Lead and deliver data projects on time and within budget, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align solutions with business objectives.
• Implement and maintain data quality standards, data governance, and ensure the reliability and accuracy of data assets.
• Coach, mentor, and provide growth opportunities for team members, facilitating their technical and career development
• Collaborate with other departments to understand data needs and deliver solutions accordingly.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest data engineering trends, advocating for their adoption where they add value

Requirements:

• 2+ years managing engineering teams
• 3+ years hands-on big data engineering experience
• Proficiency in big data tools (e.g., Spark), warehousing, and ETL tooling (e.g., Airflow)
• Strong skills in SQL and Python for data & analytics engineering.
• Strong leadership and team management skills with a focus on promoting collaboration and growth.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call schedule, adapting to changing business and technology environments
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
